Shimadzu

Product from Japan

Vacuum and Industrial Machinery

In the world of leading-edge manufacturing industries, where technical innovation proceeds at a dramatic pace, Shimadzu supports cutting-edge manufacturing activities by providing vacuum equipment, thin film deposition systems, inspection systems and other types of industrial equipment for the manufacturing and quality control processed of solar cells, semiconductors and flat panel displays.

Pump Applications

Available in a broad range of capacities, Shimadzu gear pumps are invaluable for a wide variety of chemical industry applications.

Shimadzu developed the first SBJ series gear pumps in 1973 specifically for the continuous and batch polymerization field. Designed for pressurized feed of molten plastics at high temperatures and pressures, Shimadzu's SBJ gear pumps are proven performers in a wide range of installations. A large number of these gear pumps are installed in plants all over the world.

Liquid Delivery Equipment Gear Pumps

SHIMADZU GEAR PUMPS

Polymer Industry: SBJ Series

    • Synthetic fibers: Polyester, nylon, polypropylene and others

    • Plastics: Polyester, polystyrene, ABS resin, AS resin, HDPE, LLDPE, PBT, phenol resin, polyvinyl chloride and others

    • Films/Sheets: Polyester, polystyrene, polypropylene, polycarbonate and others

    • Mounted directly under a vessel, SBJV and SBJLV gear pumps have a special wide-mouth suction port to ensure the extraction of high viscosity polymer of approximately 20,000 Pa·s (0.250 bar). (Ex. polystyrene)

    • Immediately after activation, SBJV gear pumps can pressurize extracted polymer from a vacuum reactor up to a maximum of 25 MPaG (250 bar).

    • Shimadzu's proprietary pressure adjustment mechanism on the shaft seal prevents air from being drawn through the shaft seal into the vacuum chamber.

    • Four types of gear pump shaft seals are available to suit a wide variety of liquid characteristics and operating parameters.

    • Shaft Seal Types

    • SBJ series gear pumps are jacketed to allow heating or cooling to suitable temperatures.

    • SBJ series pumps are available in 4 model types to meet a variety of applications, in capacities ranging from 45 cm3/rev to 25000 cm3/rev. Easily find a pump that satisfies your requirements.

SBJL Type

    • Compact model provides discharge pressures up to 7 MPaG. Ideal for solutions, oligomers and other low-viscosity liquids.

    • Inline model can be operated vertically or horizontally.

SBJV Type

    • SBJV gear pumps are installed under a reactor to discharge various types of polymers, such as PET and PS.

    • High-pressure model raises pressure from vacuum to 25 MPaG (250 bar) in a single step.

    • Large-diameter suction port is perfect for extracting high-viscosity polymers.

SBJ-LL Type

    • Ensures reliable feed under high suction pressures.

    • This gear pump is used as a booster pump in environments with suction pressures of over 1 MPaG

SBJLV Type

    • Compact model with discharge pressures up to 7 MPaG.

    • Attaches directly to bottom of vacuum chamber, with large-diameter port for pumping of high-viscosity liquids

Chemical Industry: SX(SD) Series

    • Synthetic fibers and resins

    • Acrylic, viscose, acetate, film raw material liquids, polyvinyl chloride, vinyl acetate, styrene (RDM), unsaturated polyester, artificial leather, hydrocarbons, carbon fiber and others

    • Food products
Molasses, candy, millet jelly, and others

    • No slippage at the gear contact point allows austenite stainless steel to be used as the gear material.

    • Suitable for non-pulsed output.

    • High-speed rotation allows a smaller pump to provide the required flow rate. Simplified pump design reduces pump weight approximately 25%, compared to standard pumps.

    • Easy to maintain.

    • Heating or cooling jacket can be used.

    • Single mechanical shaft seal is standard equipment, however, 3 other types of shaft seals can also be used.

SK/SKJ Type

    • Can be used with viscosities from 0.5 mPa・s.

    • Can be used with or without jacket, depending on application temperature.

SKJV Type

    • Even though design is compact, large suction port allows pumping of high-viscosity liquids

    • Includes heating jacket for use in heated applications

Extrusion Industry : SBEL-LL(SBJ-FL) Series

  • SBEL-LL(SBJ-FL) series gear pumps are designed for use with extruders. In plastic film and sheeting manufacturing, it is important to control extruder unit pressure fluctuations and prevent temperatures from increasing. As a result, SBEL-LL(SBJ-FL) series pumps are used to improve the quality of extruded products.

    • Either of the following series of pumps can be selected, according to the application.

    • SBEL-LL Series: General-purpose plastics, etc.

    • SBJ-FL Series: Optical polymers, optical films, etc.

    • Small pressure pulses.

    • Since friction losses are minimal, heating of polymer is minimized.

    • Can be used in situations where suction pressure is higher than discharge pressure.

    • Shaft seals use a polymer seal (labyrinth seal) that minimizes leakage and contains no wearing parts.

    • Heating is via an easy-to-operate cartridge heater that does not need to be removed, even for maintenance, thereby minimizing heater damage.
